Payment authorization and refunds

Authorization

By submitting a payment, you authorize Stripe and the identified property operator (your landlord) to charge the selected card for the exact total displayed at checkout. That total includes your rent amount plus a card processing fee, both itemized before you confirm.

If you enable autopay, you authorize the operator to charge your saved card for the amount due on each due date until you turn autopay off in the portal.

Accuracy

Confirm the operator, room, and amount before paying. If anything is wrong, do not pay — contact your property operator first.

Card processing fee

A card processing fee is added to your rent amount and shown to you before you confirm. RoomLedger adds no markup of its own. Processing fees may be nonrefundable where legally permitted.

Refunds

Refund decisions are made by the property operator under its lease, posted policy, and applicable law. Approved refunds are issued through Stripe and can take several business days to appear.

Failed payments and disputes

A failed, reversed, or disputed payment does not satisfy the amount due. Contact your property operator before filing a payment dispute so ordinary errors can be corrected promptly.

Partial payments

You may pay less than the full balance. Any unpaid balance remains due and may accrue charges per your lease.
